Islamabad Capital Territory

The sole federal territory of Pakistan is the Islamabad Capital Territory (Urdu:, Romanized as Vafq Dr-alhakmat). It encompasses Islamabad, the nation's capital city, and is situated between the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The territory is represented in the National Assembly's NA-52, NA-53, and NA-54 districts.

History.

In order to build Pakistan's new capital and replace Karachi Federal Capital Territory, land was transferred from the Punjab province's Rawalpindi District. The Capital Territory, which included Rawalpindi, was to be divided into the following sections according to the master plan from the 1960s:

259 square kilometre Rawalpindi (100 sq mi)

220.15 square kilometres make up Islamabad (85.00 sq mi)

Margalla Hills, an area of 220.15 km2 (85.00 sq mi)

Rural Islamabad is 446.20 square kilometres large (172.28 sq mi)

But in the 1980s, Rawalpindi was ultimately left out of the Islamabad master plan.
